  • Rabbis translate the Jewish Bible from Hebrew to Greek, a translation called the "Septuagint" (abbreviation: "LXX"). The LXX ultimately includes 46 books.
  • There is an interesting legend telling how the Greek translation of the Old Testament came to be called the Septuagint. About 250 BC, word of a famous and beautifully written book possessed by the Jews had reached the ear of the Ptolemaic King Philadelphus.
