Creating KML Files
  • Put a 'pushpin' marker there. See the yellow pushpin in the upper bar.
  • Right-click on that, and put in the name of the place you are marking, and then close the popup window.
  • Now - go to the top layer of "My Places" and right click. Go to Add / Folder - and create a folder under My Places"
  • Drag the mapped 'pin' place into that new folder.
  • You have now created a "Layer".
  • Now - right click the folder that has your named pushpin in it - and "save place as" and select KML file
  • There you have it - a saved KML file that you can bring up. A KMZ file is for sharing if you don't want them able to modify what you've done.
  • It is pretty simple - if you remember right click on things and put it all in folders, you'll find it.
