Translations into Arabic prior to the seventh century are not known, and there is no uniformity of versions. Some were translated from the Syriac, and still others from Coptic. Since the Arabic versions are so late they are not useful as witnesses to the original text of the NT; they are, of course, exceedingly useful for the mission of the church to Arabic-speaking peoples.
